Adult Training Events
Adult Training
Every adult taking on a role in Scouting should have a role description which outlines the key tasks and responsibilities of that role. It should be agreed between the adult and their line manager (normally their Group Scout Leader or Commissioner) on appointment. Adult Training provides for adults to interact with other adults which can be an effective way of learning and building contacts. Training delivered uses familiar Scout methods, for example, learning by doing and small group work. These are complemented by methods such as workbooks, DVDs and e-learning.

TRAINING IN A NUTSHELL
Forth Region will be holding an event for anyone involved with Adult training on Saturday 26 November 2011 in the Alva Scout Hall, Johnston Park, Alva, FK12 5BN.

The event will update those present on the latest changes in Adult training, will look at alternative methods of presenting course content and discuss ideas for improving participation on the courses. The event will be an opportunity to network and share ideas in training and validation while at the same time having fun. If you wish to see a relevant topic on the programme for the event please send your suggestions to your ADC(AT) or by email the ARC(AT) isobelaitchison@btinternet.com

SAFEGUARDING AWARENESS TRAINING
The Scout Association takes seriously its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people in its care. It believes that safeguarding and protecting the welfare of all the young people we work with is the responsibility of everyone. The Association's Young People First Code of Practice is published in the form of a pocket size yellow card that all adults are asked to keep with them. This contains information about how to report concerns or allegations of abuse and also a code of behaviour that all adults are required to follow. If you are concerned about the safety of your child on the Internet then link to ThinkUKnow the CEOP’s (Child Protection and Online Protection Centre) website.

If you, or your group, would like an update on Child Protection and PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme please contact David Wilson, Safeguarding Awareness Co-Ordinator for Forth Region on 07413551484 or at d.wilson307@btinternet.com. He is able to deliver briefing sessions at local events which are already in the calendar or will arrange a session dedicated to Child Protection material.
